That said, 19 EdP is my go to. The EdT is sharper but doesn't have the throw weight, and the Poudre flanker is not bad, in and of itself, but I much prefer the original 19's clean, green, oakmossy scream to the Poudre's, well, powdery iris. . My big issue with modern No. 19 is its performance - for an EDP and at a Chanel price point, it is very disappointing - fleeting and light. Its big, green opening fades very quickly, and it is barely detectable when I arrive at work, having sprayed myself before leaving the house. While the EdT is more pale green peridot, the EdP is more of a brilliant canary-green, differing olfactive phenomena that also happens to be masterfully signified in the coloring of the juice — a fact surely not glossed over by Chanel's adept product managers. I've expended a lot of words trying to convince men to wear No. 19, but I always advise the EDT. It's crisper, much woodier than the parfum or the EDP. And it smells freaking fabulous on men.

The edp is the prettiest and most obviously floral formulation and is the one leaning most towards typically feminine. But even though the edp may be the most feminine, it's actually still pretty much unisex. That being said, lacking sweetness or floral opulence, No. 19 would definitely be suitable for a man, especially in the EDT and EDP concentrations, where the accent falls upon the vetiver and leather.
My favorite version is No 19 Poudre followed closely by the vintage parfum. Here's some info about them ranked from hardest to easiest to wear. I think the best versions are the edt and parfum. The edp is has an oily smell, and is stuffy and muddy.I never cease to be struck by how fresh No. 19 EdT smells, even though it has none of the currently trendy fresh notes (apart from a brief pop of citrus in the very early opening). This is a great scent for sunny spring and fall days and it also works for warm, breezy summer nights.
